THE MASTER KEY--AT LAST

T.K. Toppin's second book in her Lancaster series is here and is as wonderful as I've promised it would be. This is what T.K. herself says: All is not idyllic as Josie begins her new life in the future as wife to the world president, John Lancaster. A dangerous man from her past returns — Michael Ho — to wreck more havoc and destruction. With him, Ho brings a hostage, Margeaux, who turns out to be Josie's great-niece, seven times removed! He demands a trade off — a keycode for the life of her niece. As revelations of Josie's past, three hundred years ago, begin to unfold, every question she has ever asked is answered. Together with John, and head of security, Simon, they head to the Scrap Yard, a cybernetics space station where they battle it out with Ho who is hell-bent on taking control of the world. Can Josie save the life of her new-found niece? Will learning the truth of her past and family really be enough to put the ghosts to rest? Now, Telly, at Reading, Reading and life http://readingreadingandlife.blogspot.com, says I was so happy to meet up with my old friend Josie from THE LANCASTER RULE who is now married to John, the world president. These two are such a great couple. They love together, laugh together and fight together. Yes, Josie's potty mouth can still surprise and shock John but he still loves her. I was so engrossed in the story of Josie, the real story. We knew she was asleep in a pod for 300 years and we thought we knew why but the truth is a shocker. Josie's old enemy Michael Ho is back and wants something only Josie can give him. If you read THE LANCASTER RULE you darn well know Josie does not give anything to Ho without a fight and a fight is what he gets. This man is evil and will use anyone including Josie's new found niece to get what he wants. He is a horrible person with little to like about him but being me, I do like him and feel sorry for him. Yeah, I am a softie. I don't agree with his ways but I can understand him a little. THE MASTER KEY is non-stop action. It kind of reminded me of the action we saw in Star Wars. Crazy space stations, droids, robots and other strange things. Weapon's that I would never have thought of and what I like most of all is the medical care and how advanced and good it is. I laughed out loud so many times when Josie goes off on her potty mouth tirades. Cussing is not the norm in this future but Josie forgets, often. Her complaining to John about the food in space was funny as heck. I really enjoy them as a couple. The only other couple that I enjoy as much is Jamie and Claire Fraser from the Outlander series. THE MASTER KEY was much more sci/fi in my opinion then THE LANCASTER RULE. I will be honest and say I did not understand a lot of the science fiction stuff but that did not take away from my enjoyment of the story itself. While it is the second book, you can absolutely read it as a stand alone. Ms. Toppin does a terrific job of revisiting those important details from the first book so you never feel lost or confused.
